COMPLEX MACHINES
Review: Simple Machines
As you have heard from the song on the previous page, there are a total of six simple machines. Simple machines are tools that have few or no moving parts; they help make work easier for us to do. In order to do work, a force must be used to move or change something. (A force is a push or pull.) Simple machines make our lives easier by helping us apply forces to complete work. They do this by changing the direction of the force used.
Complex Machines
In addition to simple machines, there are also complex machines. Complex machines are machines that are made up of two or more parts. Simple machines are put together in different ways to form complex machines.
