INCLINED PLANE
What is an inclined plane?
An inclined plane is a flat surface that is higher on one end: it helps us move things up and down easier. Lifting a load straight up requires a lot of effort. By pushing a load upward on a slanted surface, the amount of effort needed is greatly reduced.
How are inclined planes used?
Inclined planes help make lifting easier. They also help decrease the amount of effort needed. For example, biking up a gentle slope is much easier than biking up a steep hill.
Where are inclined planes found?
Inclined planes can be found both inside and outside. Ramps inside of nursing homes help reduce the effort needed to travel between floors. A truck ramp is used to easily lift heavy objects from the ground into the truck.
